Long-distance skates instead of running?

The week passed quickly, despite not doing much running. I truly enjoyed the new Nordictrack bike, and I got into a routine of morning yoga. But boy… I missed the excitement of running, and the long run over the weekend.

Instead of doing a long run over the weekend, I tested something new. I tried long-distance skates for the first time. This was fantastic. Of course, not the mentality rewarding feeling after like a proper run, but nevertheless a really good day out and much more fun than normal ice skating.

On Saturday, Helena and I headed to Västerås. We knew they had prepared a good part of lake, but were both surprised when realised that one loop on the lake actually was 9k. Two loops, and 18K of ice skating went super quick though and it felt easy the whole way.

We weren’t alone out on the ice though 😉 Sometimes it’s hard to realise that we are in the middle of a pandemic. The lake was packed with people enjoying the sun and a day out.

After the long-distance skating on Mälaren, we had a fantastic lunch at Steam Hotel next to the bay. Vegan food, amazing atmosphere and great service. If you are in Västerås. Give Steam Hotel a try.

During Sunday, I finally went for a short run again. I will take it easy now, and start to build slow again. I do not want another week without running.
