Högdalstoppen – High Valley

Sharing my trail running experience

Högdalstoppen – High Valley

I’ve seen the race High Valley 50 miles, and three summits/three hours in my social media flow for a long time, but I never had the opportunity or really the eager to try out the summits before. And boy have I missed something.

Mikael invited a few friends from Trailrun4fun, to join him and enjoy a couple of hours at Högdalstoppen – and we quickly accepted the invitation. We have plenty of training we need to do and elevation to register on Strava, in order to be able complete all adventures this summer with the grand finale, Ultra Tour Monte Rosa.

The trail loop goes up and down over three “summits” with an elevation of just over 300m with a length of 3.5K. The loop didn’t really have any easy parts. It was either up, down or sideways. But regardless the direction, we had fun the whole loop. This is for sure a loop that I will visit more often.

Best Grip 3,000 – Prepared for snow and ice. But not for High Valley

I had modified my Altra King MT with new spikes from Best Grip but it made little difference. With snow and lots of mud it was a slipper slope the whole loop but with that also just more fun.

Friendly Mikael, and co-coach at Team Nordic Trail. Happy to be out on the trails together.

Running in snow, mud and through hills is always tough, but its very rewarding. When the elevation almost increase faster than the Ks on the running watch, you know that it’s a sessions that the body will be grateful for.

Up, up and away… At one of the peaks.
Running with Jacon is always rewarding.
As normal, on most of our friendly training session together with take a show stop of coffee, and energy (through food and friendly chatter)

After todays fun session; I just had to be out more. Its a great feeling to be out now when we finally have snow. I got accompanied by Leon and we started to build on a new reflex run close to home.

A fun reflex/reflective run should be filled with adventures..
Will he join me on the test run? 🙂
