From winter wonderland to slush and spring and new Altra shoes.
Winter in Stockholm… It’s snowy a few days or a week, then ice, slush and then snow again. Wish we could have proper snow for a few weeks as I would like to start doing cross country skiing. Oh, well. At least I have my running – and new Altra running shoes 😉
This week I did’t reach my running goal, but it’s been a good week anyway. With lots of work and family time I have to be happy with what I can. I did sneak in a, perhaps a bit, silly running session. I woke up 2am on Saturday morning and I couldn’t go back to sleep. As I had decided to get up early to join a small group for an early morning run; I thought. Why not go for an even earlier run. So I did.
After 4 hours of running, 20K and 1,500 meter of elevation I had done the running for the day and I could instead spend the day with the kids.
This week started beautiful though with lots of snow. I managed to get in a short morning run on the Tuesday before all started to melt, and an evening hike with Estelle on Monday evening.
It’s become a routine to join my running friends from Trailrun4fun every Tuesday morning where we try to earn a few vertical meters. This morning was better than others. With lots of snow, it invited to an hour of play time. Running in the snow is lots of fun.
Wednesday morning it was raining again. Windy and rainy. At these times, I’m very happy to have a Nordictrack incline machine. Makes running indoor almost fun 🙂 It’s of course not proper trail running, but it makes me feel good anyway.
During Sunday I had a lovely hike with the kids and lunch at Hellasgården. Hellasgården offer really superb food and is the perfect stay to chill out and warm up after a cold hike. Today we had to sit outside though due to Covid-restrictions so it wasn’t very warm. :-/
During this hike with the kids, I used my old Altra Olympus 3.5. I bought them last year for my planned 130K race in Höga kusten. Unfortunately that race never happened and even if I’ve liked the shoes for mixed and hard terrain I haven’t used them that much. This week I received the new version. Altra Olympus 4.0. And this shoe felt great. It felt slightly lighter and softer. I feel confident that this will be my new go to shoe for longer long runs.
