Ecotrail Stockholm 16km – Test run
This Saturday, we could finally run in small groups again together with Team Nordic Trail when TNT invited to the first test run of Ecotrail Stockholm. I think the long runs together with new and old running friends are simply the best, and therefore I was super excited when Team Nordic Trail now once again invited for group runs to test the new Ecotrail Stockholm loops, for the Ecotrail Stockholm 2021 race.
I joined as a coach for the 16K Ecotrail Stockholm loop, starting from Stora Skuggan– and finishing in on Djurgården next to the Vasa museum. Today Team Nordic Trail, the organisers of Ecotrail Stockholm had invited to test runs for the 8K, 16K and 29K loop – all offered different tempo groups and we had to pre-book the sessions to ensure we could offer very small running groups.
Even though the groups was small, and far from the large test runs we’ve had before it still created that social feeling. The social feeling when we lift each other to perform better, and talk about most of the things in life, but mostly running I guess, but now again – isn’t that what life is… 😉
I have previously run the Ecotrail Stockholm race twice, and joined numerous test runs before. My first Ecotrail Stockholm was the 80K loop at the inaugural Ecotrail Stockholm when my running friend Mikael guided me and a small group of friends through the trails of Stockholm to complete that majestic distance for the first time.
Even if it’s 80K, Team Nordic Trail has impressively enough found plenty single track trails in north of Stockholm. A few gravel roads, and of course some asphalt as well, but mostly the Ecotrail Stockholm 80K is through nice forests.
Last year, I tried to repeat the kindness from Mikael and invited a few friends for a virtual 80K, but last year was for sure not my year. I did complete the virtual Ecotrail Stockholm 80km, but I had to walk much more than intended the last 30-40K after a complete stomach failure. But, hey I learnt something new – like don’t eat a soya Ice cream in the middle of a race during a hot sunny day…
Yesterdays test run of Ecotrail Stockholm we completed in about 2 hours 15 minutes with a few short breaks. Many of us was amazed by the beautiful trails and are excited for the Ecotrail Stockholm 2021 coming up in June 2021.
If you want to join us for another test run, check out the website or Facebook group for the latest information.
This is how we ran the test loop / test run of the Ecotrail Stockholm 16K – 2021 edition. Please ignore the last K’s up to central Stockholm. I had to run to work after the test run. On a Saturday 😱
