Run free
In a previous post, I among a few other things spoke about my feelings on following a training plan. Now a few weeks after, I realise once again that this with training plans isn’t really for me. Being used to a hectic tempo at work, with lots of deadlines, milestones to reach and deliverables to make there is always something to achieve. I don’t need that in running. It causes me stress on something that normally otherwise, and as I want it to be, just give me joy. A feeling of being able to do, just what I want. A feeling of being free. To run free.
This mentality might mean that it takes me longer to reach my goal, being less focused on getting there. But really, if it takes two more year. 5 more years. Does that really make any difference? It’s the run to get there that makes me feel good.
This week has been good though. I’ve been able to get in the runs that I’ve wanted and even without the structured plan, I feel I’m a few steps closer to reach my goal. 😀
Monday – A tough hill session with Team Nordic Trail
Being a coach, I have the opportunity to create a training session that I think would be fun, or just be tough and a good exercise. So therefore, when we this week was meant to run a hill session, I created a session with a mix of explosivity both up and down. I love hills, specifically running fast down hill.
- 30 seconds high speed up
- 60 seconds back slowly down to the same position
- 60 seconds slow, relaxing jog up
- 30 seconds high speed down to the starting point
- –> Repeat 10 times
It was fun, awarding and exhausting…
Tuesday – A hill session with friends
Tuesday mornings with Trainrun4fun means an early session in Väsjöbacken. Social, and very awarding. This week, I was convinced (which wasn’t very hard) to join a new adventure in early 2021. If all goes according to plan, I will have a fun race coming up.
Wednesday – To prepare for the day
Me and Helena and a nice relaxing morning out on the trails in Ursvik. Being up early normally gives a really opportunity to enjoy the forest. Even this morning, it gave us a mystical experience.
Thursday – 3rd hill session for the week
This time as a member of Team Nordic Trail. Jacob gave us some great tips on how to rest up hill, and push on down hill. With three different hills it was a varied and fun session.
Friday – A “We Run Stockholm” session
Me and Daniel headed to run the second run of We Run Stockholm. This time we started early one morning, in a block of K****…. Ah, I won’t tell you. You have to wait until the clip comes out on Youtube 😉
Weekend – 2x Long run
It’s no secret, the long runs are for sure my favourite runs of the week. On Saturday, I joined Team Nordic Trail as a coach in the long run group started of from Bögs Gård in Sollentuna. A scenic and very, very rainy run. I can’t recall last time I was this wet. After 2.5 hours of running, many of us stayed for lunch at the café. Hard to think of a much better way to start the weekend, despite the rain.
During Sunday, I wanted out for a slightly longer long run. I started running from my apartment, through the new mtb trail (Nick 2.0) in Ursvik, through the 2 lakes of Sundbyberg and home again. 24k and a nice summary of the week. Both clearing and sorting my thoughts, as well as completing my running goal for the week. All without even planning for it.
Until next time… Run free.
