Finally, some sun during a run
November, one of the darkest months of the year. A few years ago, before I started to run, I remember we were going through one of the darkest Novembers ever. Was it a few hours of sun during the whole month? Cloudy, dark, rainy and utterly miserably… Ultimately this led to for me, like for many others a Vitamin D deficiency. Something I discovered after a health check when I felt depressed.
This is something I do reflect over a times today. I did start to feel better after I started to eat vitamin d supplement. I did think that this is something I will need to do every year from now on. But, this was a once off.
The year after I had found running, and I do think this has made such a big difference. Yes, it is dark. Yes, it is rainy. But it’s fine. It’s good to be out and to run anyway. I believe that I’m frequently out gives me that extra boost, both in endorphins and general feeling of good health that all turns into a positive spiral. And of course, when days and weekends like this pass, it all just adds up and I’m so far from the need for Vitamin D, even if perhaps today suffer from the same amount of Vitamin D deficiency.
So next time it’s sunny – go out for a run. It makes a world of difference….
During Saturday I joined Team Nordic Trail for a fun long run in Tyresta Nationalpark.
Saturday evening, me and Helena took the opportunity to relax and enjoy a weekend at Grand Hotel in Saltsjöbanden. A fantastic old and nice hotel with great food and service. Of course, we started the Sunday morning with another nice long run.
