2022 Trail running races and trail adventures of
Hopefully 2022 will bring me lots of fun during trail races, and trail running adventures.
2021 was for sure the year that I have done most trail races and runnings adventures, but I quickly realised when travelling to my first race of 2022 that I have something booked or in the pipeline close to everyone month already in 2022. Partly due to two races and trips that has been postponed due to COVID-19 but also as I need to continue to race, to improve the chances to enter UTMB, but perhaps mostly because it’s really fun and rewarding. Check out my full event calendar for 2022 with all trail running races 2022
Trail running races during 2022
January – Gotrun, Gotland Ultra run, 72K
The race calendar started early with an ultra run already on January 14. Gotrun gave me 3 ITRA points, and shall have reworded a few points in the UTMB M , 50K category. Last week I wrote a short blog post of the inaugural Gotrun. A race I can truly recommend.
February – A friendly long run?
I haven’t got anything booked yet for February, but a long run is in planning. I’ve got a friend who truly want to complete the 100K mark. We’re thinking of doing that in February as a practice run, or we will satisfy with a short long run.
March – TGC : Trans Gran Canaria Classic 126K
This is a race that I have been looking forward to for a long time, for years actually. But I have not been in enough good form to dare to give it ago. I’m not sure I am now either. This will for sure be my biggest challenge and achievement so far. I will run further, with more elevation gain and for a longer period of time I have ever done before. I’m currently training hard in the end to give my body the best possible chances of success.
I’m combining the Trans Gran Canaria race with a vacation with the kids. We’ve rented a cottage up in the mountain, and regardless of how it goes in the race – I’m sure we will have a great time together. I mean, I couldn’t have wished for better support.
April – Silva Great Lakeland 3days
This is a 3 day stage race, that I’ve been signed up for for the last two years. Due to restrictions in travel I haven’t been able to go yet. Hopefully 2022 will be the year I can run this race. I will try to complete the EXPERT versions, which should be about 40K per day, with about 3,000m of elevation gain each day. The team behind Silva Great Lakeland 3days will take care of all of our bagage and we just have to run to the next destination each day. In the evening we’ll make camp, have barbecue and tent over night. I’m really looking forward to this race, a race I will share with 30+ running buddies from Trailrun4fun.
May – A adventure on Billingen
Billingen is a “mountain” back home in Skövde. It’s on the ski slope of Billingen that I actually manage to win a backyard competition earlier in 2021 in the race Billingen Mountain Loop.
During May, Billingen is absolutely beautiful. With green fields and flowers its a sprin dream. This is something I would share with a few running friends, so I created a trail running weekend in Skövde, end of May 2022. Join me if you want. We will take it slow, and enjoy the 57K loop together.
June – Trail 100 Andorra By UTMB
So, end of June, it’s time for another real challenge. The Trail 100 Andorra race by UTMB. A 105K race with 6,900m of elevation gain. If I manage to complete this race, I should hopefully have enough points and stones to apply for UTMB 2023 as well.
July – A loop around Mount Blanc on the UTMB course
During this vacation, I will experience the full UTMB course during a 5 days running. This is a trip that I have planned together with Team Nordic Trail . During this trip, I hope I will gain valuable experience for my future UTMB race.
August – TDS by UTMB – Will it happen?
This year I’m in the lottery for TDS. If I do managed to get it, this will be my biggest challenge so far. And the second time, I can say that during 2022.
September, October – Currently unbooked 🙂
I might leave it like this, or book something short but fun end of September.
November – Kullamannen 100miles
When I ran the 100K “Sprint” last year, I said to my self. I won’t do this again. After my friend Maria finished Kullamannen 100miles the day after, and she got a free starting spot for Kullamannen 100miles 2022 – my view on the race had already changed. Of course I should run Kullamannen 100miles 2022. I’m still to book a ticket.
